Just outside of downtown Raleigh, you’ll find our home and local favorite, Five Points. This neighborhood boasts a handful of Raleigh’s most beloved restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, and shops centrally situated around a number of historic suburbs. Its central location makes it easy for residents to fulfill their daily needs, while other popular areas like Glenwood South, Cameron Village, and Crabtree Valley are only a short drive away. But it’s Five Points’ history and cultural significance that really draws builders and residences into this area.
In 1910, Five Points’ first round of neighborhoods emerged boasting bungalow-style houses that projected a simple yet efficient lifestyle. Then, in the 1920s, the Bloomsbury Historic District was erected with 200-plus houses—mostly bungalow and Colonial Revival dwellings housing the middle and upper-middle. Hayes Barton, designed largely by the landscape architect Earle Sumner Draper, was one of the most desirable Five Points neighborhoods and remains popular today. Now, a hodgepodge of homes gives the area character and attracts people from all walks of life.
