It’s summertime and the livin’ is easy—especially if you have a screened-in porch or three-season room in your home! We all know summers in Raleigh can be brutal, what with the humidity and scorching-hot temps. But these indoor-outdoor spaces provide the best of both worlds, allowing you to enjoy the sunshine and outdoors while keeping cool and warding off bugs, rain, etc.

In case you’re unfamiliar, a screened-in porch is typically enclosed with, well, a screen, while a three-season room is usually enclosed in glass and features floor-to-ceiling windows. Neither space is meant to be cooled or heated on a long-term basis (hence the three-season, not four, as they will get chilly in the winter!), but they do a pretty good job of staying cool/warm throughout most of the year. Bonus points if your screened-in porch or three-season room has a fan and/or fireplace—or a TV for all-day entertainment!

These spaces can really add to the appeal of a home, allowing you to get a feel for the outdoors without actually being all the way outside. It’s the best of both worlds!
